The ninja foodie XL makes some amazing things but one of my most favorite, low cost and ridiculously easy meals is a shepherd's pie.
Of course, I have to add a few bits and bobs beyond the standard recipe.
The sear setting quickly browns hamburger even a 1 lb Frozen block.
Dumping in a bag of frozen mixed vegetables couldn't be simpler.
Throwing in a pound of fingerling potatoes adds a good hearty chunky potato.
Next, two cups of water and switching from sear/saute to pressure cook with the lid on, after the water comes up to a simmer.
Pressure cooking on the high setting for 10 minutes will ensure the vegetables and brown meat do not turn into mush, though thoroughly cooking the potatoes. After bleeding off the high pressure steam the contents of the pot are an amazing stew. Dumping in one cup of instant mashed potatoes turns it into a giant shepherd's pie. After letting it rest for a couple of minutes until the water has absorbed into the potatoes, topping it with cheese and dropping the air fryer lid on it will create an amazing cheesy shepherd's pie. I'm truly amazed at the Ninja Foodie XL's ability to make cheap and quick and amazingly flavorful food in the same pot. This 30 minute meal could feed a family of 10 for right around $15 total...
